NORTH – Elinor, 97, Johnstown, longtime resident of South Fork; went to be with the Lord March 13, 2023. Born February 7, 1926, in South Fork, daughter of Robert and Mary (Kline) Giles. Preceded in death by parents; beloved husband, William North Jr., who died August 18, 2010; sisters, Mary Giles and Roberta Jean Giles; brother, Robert Giles; and special dog, Twitter Bug.
Survived by children, Linda Renaud (Mark), William North, Robert North, Deborah Hrabowy (Mike), Mary Lou Robertson (Randy), and Gary North (Julie); eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and special dog, Rosco.
Elinor was a graduate of South Fork High School, class of 1943 and a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church. During World War II she served on the home front as a munitions production worker. Following the war effort, she worked in several local sewing factories. She especially enjoyed visits with family and friends; reminiscing about bygone days growing up in South Fork and was happiest when she saw her children and grandchildren reach their accomplishments and experience joy in their lives.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork; the Reverend Doctor David Stains, retired pastor from the area, presiding.
