Eileen W. Snyder

April 1, 1945 — September 5, 2022

SNYDER - Eileen W., age 77, of Tamarac, Fl, passed away on September 5, 2022, after a brief illness.
The former Eileen Clossey was born on April 1, 1945, in Neptune, NJ, the only child to parents John and Marie (Deveney) Clossey. She was a graduate of Caldwell College with degrees in Elementary Education and Russian Literature.

Shortly after earning her degrees, she agreed to a blind date with Thomas C. Snyder, and quickly fell in love! They married on October 30, 1970, and lived in several places on the East Coast before settling in Little Silver, NJ while Tom was stationed as a civilian at Fort Monmouth. Eileen loved children and spent many years in pre-school education in both NJ and FL. She was an avid reader, and could never drive by a garage sale without stopping for a bargain! Eileen was a social butterfly, making friends wherever she went. She was generous to a fault, and will be remembered for always bestowing small gifts to neighbors, friends and family for every occasion, large and small.

Eileen and Tom relocated to Tamarac, FL in 1995 upon Tom’s retirement. Although she was always a Jersey Girl at heart, she adjusted to life in the Sunshine State, but never missed an opportunity to wear one of her NJ sweaters on a rare cool day! She loved spending time at her local McDonald’s, chatting daily with friends who were like family, about their latest news and current events.

Eileen’s faith was very strong, and she relied on it in good times and bad, most especially when her beloved Tom passed away on July 19, 2022, after 52 years of marriage. Her family is comforted in their sadness knowing they are healthy and reunited once again.

She is survived by nieces Rebecca Santaniello and her husband Gerard of Wayne, NJ and Penny Tarpey and her husband Brian of Ocean Grove, NJ, as well as her great niece Delaney Tarpey and great nephews Christopher Santaniello and his wife Andrea, Thomas Santaniello and Connor Tarpey.

Although funeral services were private, donations in her memory are being accepted by the Society of St. Vincent DePaul.
