Edward R. Riley

RILEY – Edward R., 58, Salix, died March 2, 2018, at UPMC East, Monroeville. Born February 25, 1960, in Johnstown, son of James E. III and Marjorie A. (Lloyd) Riley. Preceded in death by father; sister, Cathy L. Riley; and infant brother Timothy Louis.

Survived by mother, Salix; and brother, Timothy R. Riley, Houston, Texas.

Ed had studied at Penn State University and worked at the Penn State Bookstore for many years. In the search for meaning on the passing of a loved one it can be easy to be consumed with guilt at opportunities missed or situations not understood, but in the end there’s “nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile.” Ed may not have fit neatly into common views of success and at times he seemed to “live no particular way but his own,” however, what remains matters most; he understood in his heart that “love will see you through.”

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday June 2, 2018, at Salix Bethel United Methodist Church, the Rev. Don Poole officiating.
