GREER – Edward Ray, “Tweet,” “Birdman,” 74, Johnstown, formerly of South Fork, passed away at home, January 18, 2020, with loving family at his side.
Born August 20, 1945, in South Fork, son of George E. and Mable A. (Fyock) Greer. Preceded in death by parents; and sister, Traila Graffius.
Survived by loving wife, Linda L. (Spiker) Greer, Johnstown; daughters, Anita, wife of Michael Yuschick, South Fork; Christie, wife of Robert Bartley, Altoona; and Rae Lynn, wife of Darren Buchko, Johnstown; step-daughter, Paula (Swartzwelder), wife of Jeff Schartiger, Central City; and step-son, Michael Swartzwelder, Somerset; grandchildren, Ray, Keith, Quinn, Zachary, Les Paul, Tallyn, Daxton, Maddox and Tarryn; step-grandchildren, Kayla, Elizabeth and Matthew; step great-grandson, Beau; sister, Corrine Greer, Portage; brother-in-law, Tom Graffius, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was a graduate of Triangle Area High School, class of 1963; member of Wesley United Methodist Church, South Fork; United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War; and former member of American Legion Post 653, South Fork. He drove truck for McQuaide, was a machinist at Ridge Tool Company, retired from the maintenance department at Arbutus Park Manor, and following retirement worked part-time as a security guard at Glendale Yearround. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle; and was a caring husband, wonderful father, and a terrific Pap.
Friends will be received from 2:30 p.m. until time of service at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork; the Reverend Arlene Bobrowicz presiding.
