GARGON – Edith B., 87, Elton Heights, passed away June 28, 2018, at home. Born July 17, 1930, in Gallitzin, daughter of Andrew and Susan (Schoenfeld) Nickol.
Preceded in death by parents; son, Eugene Gargon Jr. and sixteen siblings. Survived by loving husband of 64 years, Eugene J. Gargon Sr., whom she married July 25, 1953; children, Susan, wife of Carrol McDaniel, Portage; Nadine, wife of William Deitle, Summerhill; Michelle Homza, St. Michael; and Daniel, married to Kimberly (Driggs), Salix; daughter-in-law, Tammy Gargon, Wilmington, North Carolina; beloved grandchildren, Gage, Mikey, Kristi (Bob), Kelli, Art “Beans,” Laurie, Nick, Billie Jo, Hayley, Canyon and Cassie; great-grandchildren, Bobby, Morgan, Chace, Zoe, Ezra, Trinity, Bre, Phoenix, Skyla, Lynkyn and Bailey; and great-great-grandson, Julian.
Edith was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Richland. She worked for many years as a short order cook at the former Sweet William Restaurant in the Richland Mall. She adored Elvis and country music, enjoyed camping and collecting angels, hummingbirds and salt and pepper shakers. Mom was happiest when she saw her children and grandchildren reach their accomplishments and experience joy in their lives. Her family will hold dear memories of a devoted wife, loving mother and wonderful grandmother. Her gentle spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where Vigil will be held.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 2 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Father David Peles, celebrant.
