Dorothy A. Wirfel

WIRFEL – Dorothy A., 95, New Germany, died peacefully January 3, 2020, at home. Born October 27, 1924, in Ashville, daughter of Matthew and Dorothy (Wirtner) Conrad.

Preceded in death by parents; husband, Norbert L. Wirfel, who died November 22, 1998; sisters, Marie McMullen, Ann Sutton, Rita Shaffer, Edith Hollen, Rose Beck, Helen Itle, and Olive Hollen; brothers, Clair, Joseph, and Edward; son-in-law, Timothy A. Bartek; and great-grandson, Levi Malzi.

Survived by children, JoAnn, wife of Larry Malzi; Dotty Bartek; Gary Wirfel, all of New Germany; Connie Wirfel, Winchester, Virginia; and Matthew Wirfel, Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Mazur, Cresson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and their Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed family gatherings at her home and always looked forward to Conrad family reunions.

Friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil service will be held Sunday evening.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany; Father Leon Hont, OSB, Celebrant.
