PENROD – Don Wade, 77, Mount Hope (South Fork); and the Villages, Florida, went to be with the Lord, August 2, 2019, surrounded by loving family.
Born May 20, 1942, in South Fork, son of Wade G. and Dola N. (Jennings) Penrod. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Jay L. and Regis D. Penrod; and mother-in-law, Ruth M. (Josephson) Binaut.
Survived by beloved wife of 57 years, Linda L. (Binaut) Penrod, whom he married July 14, 1962; daughters, Carole Lyn, wife of Ted Trawick, Leesburg, Florida; Kelly Dawn Penrod-Dail, Oxford, Florida; and Kristy Lee, wife of Scott Rogers, Rockwell, North Carolina; “adopted son,” Jeffrey Stewart and family, Johnstown; grandchildren, Jessica Marie, Courtney Lyn, Jeremy Lee, and Kevin Wade; great-grandchildren, Kaleah and Kyrie; siblings, Carole Markulin, Harrisburg; and Carey, married to Betty (Sherlock), Warrenton, Virginia; sister-in-law, Beverly Penrod-Jones, Summerhill; and his faithful little Pomeranian, Kirby.
Graduate of Adams Township High School, class of 1960. Member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church, Mount Hope. Don was the former owner and operator of Penrod’s Exxon Service Station in Johnstown, where together with the support of his family he enjoyed a successful business for over 30 years. Following retirement he worked for the US Census Bureau in Virginia and Florida. Former treasurer of Easter Seals, Johnstown; and past Junior Governor of the Moose, Johnstown Lodge. Don was an avid golfer, he enjoyed living in Florida for many years, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, the Reverend David Stains presiding.
Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery.
