Dolores M. Skrout

SKROUT – Dolores Mary “Dory,” 80, Summerhill, passed away October 28, 2024. Born May 2, 1944 in Summerhill, daughter of Magnus Theobold and Sarah Adelaide (Noon) Werfel. Preceded in death by parents; husband, William H Skrout, who died August 29, 2001; siblings, Elizabeth “Betty” Robertine Birkenheiser, Mary Grace DeCarlton, Joseph, Leona Catherine Glacken, Ronald Joseph, Marie Shirley Shostek, Roberta Magdalene Blasic, and Peter Augustine. Stepmother of Brian Keith Skrout and Lisa Ann (Skrout) Kline and numerous grandchildren. 

Member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Summerhill. Retired from the Cambria County Courthouse, Ebensburg. She was an editor and wrote articles for several cooking magazines. Co-leader of the Great Books Foundation and taught adult literacy classes. She enjoyed antique collecting and restoration, sewing, gardening, wine making, and baking. She loved a good joke and delighted in long discussions on any topic. She was a compassionate person who could always find something positive no matter the situation. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church. 

Committal, St. Bartholomew Catholic Cemetery, Wilmore.
