MATTIS – Daniel F., Dunlo, 80, died September 26, 2018, at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. Born January 14, 1938, in Scalp Level, son of Andrew and Helen (Lippen) Mattis.
Preceded in death by parents; son-in-law, Tim Miller; and brothers, George and Eugene Mattis.
Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Anna M. (Hight) Mattis, whom he married June 13, 1959; daughter, Laura A. Miller, Dunlo; grandson, Daniel Mihm, married to Sarah Strayer, Dunlo; great grandson, Noah Mihm; sisters, Mildred Burkett, Scalp Level; and Irene Dobrowolsky, Windber; brothers, Edward, married to Louise Stumpo, Davidsville; and Andrew, Windber; special niece, Barbara (Lindsay) Mihalko, Windber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Daniel was a graduate of Richland High School Class of 1954. He was a member of the Army National Guard 876th Engineer Battalion, Johnstown and was a salesman for Swank Hardware Company, C. H. Miller Hardware Company, Huntingdon, where he was Salesman of the Year in 1975 and 1982, and Wallace Hardware Company, Morristown, Kentucky, where he was Salesman of the Year in 2002 and 2004. He was a very active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber and in the former Holy Spirit Parish, Dunlo. He was an avid bowler and was a member of Holy Name Bowling League, Windber. He enjoyed horses and was a member of the Interstate Horse Association and a Chairman for 17 years with the Johnstown Horse Show and he also showed horses on the C.P.H.A. and Inter-State Circuit for 40 years.
Private family viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church celebrated by Father Rod Soha, TOR.
