WERFEL – Clyde E., 83, Summerhill, passed away October 31, 2019, at Cambria Care Center. Born March 11, 1936, in Summerhill, son of Edward Leo and Regina Mary (Bodenschatz) Werfel. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Violet Templeton and Irene Timura; and brothers, Walter L., Gerald E., and Charles L. Werfel.
Survived by siblings, Mary Jane, wife of Walter Knisel, Summerhill; Lillian, widow of Louis Pisarski, Summerhill; Nora Mae, wife of Leo Zebarth, White Plains, Maryland; Marian Werfel, who lovingly cared for him most of his adult life on the family farm in Summerhill; Edward J., married to Marilyn (Skibo), Summerhill; and Carolyn, wife of Robert Varner, Summerhill; in-laws, Harry Templeton, Summerhill; and Sam Timura, Portage; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Happiest on the move, Clyde enjoyed family gatherings, church picnics, and seeing familiar faces. Despite his limited abilities Clyde had much to say and was a natural educator. His gentle nature and generous sense of humor were well suited qualifications for his job; which was to be seen and approachable, providing the opportunity for the world to realize that it’s the differences and uniqueness between us that make life most interesting. At this, he excelled.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Wilmore; Father Joseph C. Nale Celebrant.
