Clair was the oldest member of the Mount Olive United Methodist Church, Sidman, having served faithfully as Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, Usher, and Conference Delegate. Over the years he worked tirelessly on many improvement projects at the church.
Clair was a World War II Navy veteran, having served aboard the USS Hornet in the Pacific Theater. He retired from the former Atlantic Breeders Cooperative; had a lifetime passion for woodworking and gardening, found much enjoyment in fishing and hunting, and especially cherished time spent with his family. Clair will always be remembered for lending a helping hand to his family – helping with anything from freezing corn, or picking fruit, to building a house. His strong work ethic was part of who he was. He was always generous in sharing the produce from his garden. The family is so very appreciative of the wonderful, loving care he received from the compassionate staff at Crossroads while residing at Arbutus Park Manor.
