SMITH – Charles R., “Smitty,” 84, St. Michael, went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2018, he died at home, surrounded by loving family. Born March 29, 1934, in Dunlo, son of William and Catherine (Myers) Smith.
Preceded in death by parents; son, Wayne; sister, Judy Yeager and brothers, Ronald and William Smith.
Survived by loving wife of 63 years, Florence L. (Petrunak) Smith, whom he married June 25, 1955; children, Nancy Broad (Mario), Fredericksburg, Virginia; Richard Smith (Apryl), Johnstown; and Betty Jane, wife of Barry Wadsworth, St. Michael; grandchildren, Adam (Susan), Tony (Lisa), Allison (Ben), Benjamin (Mindy), Timothy, Aaron (Melissa) and Jason; and 14 great-grandchildren. Brother of Mary Catherine Walter, Florida; George Smith (Patricia), Ebensburg; and Virginia Gurchik (Lynn), New London, Connecticut. Smitty was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael and was a retired steelworker from Bethlehem Steel, Franklin Mills. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved sports. He was dearly loved by all his family and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Fr. Brian Warchola celebrant.
