Charles B. Bertolino

BERTOLINO – Charles B., 85, South Fork; passed away January 4, 2025. Born March 22, 1939, in Sidman; son of Peter P. Sr. and Bernice “Maggie” (Mickus) Bertolino. Preceded in death by parents; beloved wife, Mary Ann (Trotter) Bertolino, who died February 9, 2023; daughter, Theresa Fleck; grandson, Kyle Fleck; brothers, John, Peter, and James Bertolino; and nephew, Michael Bertolino. 

Survived by son, Anthony, married to Ellen Colon; son-in-law, James Fleck; granddaughter, Sarah Fleck, married to Patrick Hayes; grandson, Ethan Bertolino Colon; nieces, Gloria, wife of Larry Lohr; Christine, widow of Kevin Smay; and Cathy, wife of Jeff Madison; nephew, John Bertolino, married to Vicki Kriston; and many other loving family members.

Charlie was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, a proud U.S. Army veteran, and an active member of the St. Michael American Legion Post 551. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, birdwatching, mushroom foraging, and befriending the local wildlife. He was a skilled craftsman, woodworker, and gardener who loved American history, cooking for his friends and family, and listening to his favorite music which included Italian classics, early rock & roll, country, and bluegrass. Beloved and respected by the community, he was known as “Pap” and “Uncle Charlie” to many people, not just his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His greatest legacy is his love for his family. He will be sorely missed, and never forgotten.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday January 11, at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, January 13, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Father Jerzy Auguscik, OFM Conv., celebrant.
