Catherine M. "Kate" Motchenbaugh

MOTCHENBAUGH – Catherine M. “Kate”, 93, formerly of New Germany, died August 19, 2019, at Laurelwood Care Center, Westmont.

Born November 25, 1925, in New Germany, daughter of Timothy and Matilda (Wirfel) Motchenbaugh. Preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Jane Motchenbaugh; sisters, Elizabeth Schrift, Hilda Meier and Dorothy Wissinger; and brothers, Paul, Bernard and Hilary.

Survived by sister, Evelyn Motchenbaugh, Laurelwood Care Center; niece, Patricia, wife of Larry Moyer, New Germany; and many other nieces and nephews.

Kate, as most people knew her, was a professional seamstress. She retired from JoAnn Apparel in Ebensburg after 38 years. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany. Kate and her sister, Evelyn planted beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. The sisters quilted together and stitched every quilt that they made by hand.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 22 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Father Leon Hont, OSB Celebrant.

Committal, St. Marys Cemetery, New Germany.
