BODENSCHATZ – Carl F., 73, Summerhill, died February 20, 2017, as the result of a tree trimming accident. Born September 9, 1943, in Johnstown, son of the late Francis M. “Boney” and Cecilia M. (Wess) Bodenschatz.
Survived by loving wife of 53 years, JoAnn (Wiseman) Bodenschatz, whom he married October 19, 1963; son, Mark, married to Marietta (Chulick), Richland; and daughter, Cheryl, wife of Barry Leventry, Mineral Point; grandchildren, Brandon, Carlie, Timothy, Stacy (Chris), Gary (Ruth Ann), Dustin (Kayla), Jennifer (Denny), Jamie, and Nicole (David); great grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Riley Ann, Colton, Maddox, Austin, Avery, Everleigh and Lincoln; one great granddaughter, AnnaBeth and twin great grandsons, Easton and Weston on the way; special nephew, James Hughes; and constant canine companion, Ginger.
Carl was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Summerhill. Graduate of Adams Summerhill High School, Class of 1962. He was a retired cable splicer from GTE, a former consultant for ITI and worked for the Summerhill Borough Light Plant. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, trap shooting, hunting and fishing. Founder of the Forest Hills Trout Co-Op, member and secretary for 45 years of the Laurel Run Rod and Gun Club, past president and a 40 year member of the Cambria County Federation of Sportsmen, a hunter safety instructor for 45 years and a life-time member of the NRA.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church, by Father Leon Hont, OSB.
