Betty J. Smay

SMAY – Betty J., 92, South Fork, passed peacefully September 7, 2023. Born September 8, 1930, in Johnstown, daughter of Onzlow and Rebecca (Kelly) Dunmire-Beba. Preceded in death by parents; stepfather, Otto Beba; husband, Gerald W. Smay, who died September 4, 1994; sisters, Etta Mae Gramling and Lena Maude Dunmire; and brothers, Alfred, Homer, Thomas, John, and Ronald Dunmire.

Survived by son, Robert, married to Nancy (Wilkinson); daughter, Rebecca, wife of Roger Berkey; granddaughters, Dawn, wife of Michael Brezovec; and Heather, wife of Sean Hart; beloved great granddaughters, Mackenzie Brezovec and Gianna and Chloe Hart; and sister, Ruby Lawery.

Betty was a member of Lake Union Evangelical Church. Mom was happiest when she saw her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren reach their accomplishments and experience joy in their lives. She instilled that support and faith are the best foundations you can have, and being happy and having love fill your heart is what truly matters.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, Pastor Dave Way presiding.

Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery.
