Bettie M. Wadsworth

September 29, 1921 — November 23, 2018

WADSWORTH – Elizabeth, “Bettie,” 97, joined the Heavenly Choir on November 23, 2018, reuniting her with her already singing husband Bob.

Born September 29, 1921, in South Fork, daughter of the late William H. and Julia (Street) Moore.

Preceded in death by husband, Robert C. Wadsworth, who died March 16, 1983; brothers, William, James, Russell, Joseph and George; and sisters, Mary A. Bacote and Ruth E. Stockberger.

Survived by children, Robert, married to Bonnie (Shaw), Sharon Hill; Sally, wife of Ken Richards, New Florence; Susan, wife of Ted Orr, Annapolis, Maryland; James, married to Karen (Jones), Summersville, West Virginia; and Patricia, wife of Lynn Horner, Loris, South Carolina; grandchildren, Rebecca (Stephen) Knowles, William (Shelby) Wadsworth, Mark (Traci Higinbotham) Richards, Matthew (Kathy) Richards, Lori (Greg) Loker, Ted Orr, Melissa (Kirk) Perkins, Jeffrey Horner, Andrew (fiancée, Laura Jarrett) Wadsworth, and Joel Wadsworth; great-grandchildren, Craig Cullen, Emma Richards, Madison and Aubree Loker, Megan Wadsworth and Garrett Chestnut.

Formerly employed by the Forest Hills School District as an educational aide and secretary at St. Michael Elementary, Forest Hills Elementary and Jr. High School. Member of First United Methodist Church of Palmetto, Florida. Former member of Salix Bethel United Methodist Church where she was the church pianist and choir member for many years. She was a member of the “Greatest Generation” supporting the war effort by working on the homefront as an inspector of water supply lines that were used in the Sahara Desert by US troops waiting to invade Italy.

Special thanks to the staff at the Villa, Dr. Kastelic, and Interim Hospice. Although her Alzheimer’s Disease presented many challenges she was always cared for with dignity, kindness, and compassion; and for that we are forever grateful. We will love and miss you every day Mom.

Friends will be received at the church from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 1, at Salix Bethel United Methodist Church, the Rev. Donald Poole presiding.

Inurnment, South Fork Cemetery.
