Barry L. Bassett

BASSETT – Barry L., 80, South Fork, died September 27, 2023, at home, with Pat by his side. Born January 10, 1943, in South Fork, son of William G. Jr. and Norma (Heilman) Bassett. Preceded in death by parents; son, Barry Bassett II and brothers, Richard and Alan.

Survived by loving wife, Patricia (Treacy) Bassett; daughter, Patricia, wife of Jerry Ressler; and son, Jeffrey Bassett; grandchildren, Justin, Steven, and Heather; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Kamden, and Roman; and another baby girl expected in December.

Barry was a graduate of South Fork Croyle High School, class of 1960 and a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, stationed at Camp Beavers, South Korea. Member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He was a garment cutter for K&B Sportswear and a retired sales associate from Sears. Barry cherished spending time with family. Though he called himself a “wood butcher,” he was in fact a gifted woodworker. He also enjoyed cross stitch, diamond dot crafts, and criss cross puzzles.

Friend will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, Pastor Dawn Davis presiding.

Interment, South Fork Cemetery.
