DUMM – (Long) Barbara M., 82 years young, of New Germany, died January 4, 2021, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born December 18, 1938, in New Germany; daughter of Albert J. and Clara H. (Weinzierl) Long. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Grace Heinlein, Leona Schissler, Rosemary Gill; and brothers, Harold, Kenneth, Raymond, and Clair.
Survived by loving husband of 62 years, Patrick W. Dumm, whom she married August 16, 1958; children, Diane, wife of James Woods, Richmond, Virginia; Darrell, married to Donna (Beyer), New Germany; David, married to Wendy (Sedei), Duncansville; Darlene, wife of Edward Shephard, Indiana, Pennsylvania; and Linda, wife of Doug Wess; Ebensburg; grandchildren, Jim (Catherine) Woods, Alyssa Woods; Dakota, Derek, Devin, Danielle, and Delaney Dumm; Courtney and Chloe Dumm; Ian, Laura, and Adam Shephard; and Emma, Paige, and Jonathan Wess; brothers, Richard, married to Mary (Brawley), New Germany; and Camillus, married to Betty (Demko), Mount Hope; sisters, Lois, wife of Robert Whiteford, Portage; Vera Noll, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania; and Joyce, wife of Thomas Gregorich, Mineral Point; and in-laws, Imogene Reidy, Clair and Mary Dumm, Sally Thomas, Diana Long, and Alfred Gill.
Barb was a devout Catholic who sought strength and guidance through praying the Rosary. Member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany; where she attended daily Mass, sang in the choir, and enjoyed fellowship with friends in the Altar and Rosary Society. Graduate of South Fork – Croyle High School, class of 1956. She was executive secretary of Pat Dumm Construction for 58 years and a past president of the Homebuilders Association Ladies Auxiliary. Member of Cambrian Hills Golf Club, where she enjoyed golfing with her husband in the senior league on Tuesdays. Barb was also an avid bowler, talented dancer, gifted gardener, and ruthless card player. Mom was truly happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends. Her kind and caring spirit leaves a legacy of joy and gratitude in the hearts of all who loved her.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Father Leon Hont, OSB Celebrant.
