PATNEY – Anne, 93, Portage, died Aug. 10, 2016 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 1, 1923, in Portage, daughter of John and Anna (Kushner) Homa.
Preceded in death by parents; husband, Joseph Patney, who died April 6, 1999; sisters, Mary Homa, Helen Kalicky and Susan Johnson and brothers, John, Michael, Peter, Joseph, Andrew, Alex, Nicholas, George and Stephen Homa.
Survived by children, Joel, married to Sherie (Allenbaugh), Portage; Debra, wife of Gary Krisko, Wilmore; and Lori Patney, Cresson; beloved grandchildren, Heather (Patney), wife of William Blackburn; Rebecca (Patney), wife of Anthony Rentz; Tyler Krisko, married to Mary (Schafer); and Jordan Krisko; sister, Kathryn Buck, Johnstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Member of Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Portage. During WWII as she watched six of her brothers go off to war, she proudly helped with the war effort herself, working for the Navy at an ammunitions plant in Elkton, Maryland; where she manufactured 40 mm shells. Anne enjoyed lively political discussions, shopping at yard sales and flea markets, baking wonderful desserts and cooking her delicious haluski .
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. until Parastas at 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Rev. Father James Spontak, officiating. Committal, Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Cemetery, Portage.
