TOWNSEND – Anna A., 87, Portage, formerly of South Fork, died January 1, 2019, at Maple Winds Care Center. Born September 22, 1931, in South Fork, daughter of Frank and Ora (Ressler) Bennett.
Preceded in death by parents; husband, James L. Townsend, who died December 31, 2002; grandson, Adam Kostyk; and brothers, Roy D. “Tiny” and Earl S. Bennett.
Survived by children, Denise Podrasky and companion, Wayne “Duffy” Campbell, Altoona; Sharon, wife of Robert Nagy, Portage; James L. II, married to Lynn (Boast), Portage; Debbie, wife of Rick Ritchey, Blue Knob; and Corda Kostyk and companion, Ken Kinsey, Johnstown; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister, Dorothy Jones, South Fork; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Member of Wesley United Methodist Church, South Fork. She retired as head cook for the Forest Hills High School after many years of service. Former member of South Fork Volunteer Fire Dept., Auxiliary; Women’s Democrat Club; and American Legion Post 653, Ladies Auxiliary. Past Worthy High Priestess of the Eastern Star and member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Order of Amaranth. She enjoyed attending the Forest Hills Senior Center, dining out, trips to the casino, and spending time with family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc, South Fork.
Visitation will also be held at Wesley United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, the Reverend Denise Gramling presiding.
Interment, South Fork Cemetery.
