Agnes J. Noon

NOON – Agnes J., 95, South Fork (Adams Township), passed away November 28, 2020, at C.S.S. Medical Center at Windber. Born September 28, 1925, in Fifficktown, eldest and last surviving child of Matthew S. Sr. and Susan (Cashmire) Petrunak.

Preceded in death by parents; husband, Harry S. Noon, who died December 9, 1985; brothers, Paul (Helen Louise), George (Frances), Matthew (Dorothy), Jacob (Vernita), and sister, Florence Smith (Charles); in-laws, Sanford and Esther Noon, Carrie Meier, Betty Ruth Custer (John), and Evelyn Noon.

Survived by daughters, Susan, wife of Paul Snyder, South Fork (Adams Township); and Carol Noon, Fredericksburg, Virginia; grandson, Dustin Snyder and his wife, Danielle, Studio City, California; brother-in-law, Clarence “Tom” Noon; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Agnes was a 1943 graduate of South Fork High School. While there she played the violin and along with her brother, Paul, participated in The All County Orchestra. She was a 1946 graduate of Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a cadet nurse. Her 34 years of registered nursing included the former Lee Hospital and Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital. Her last working years were spent in the pediatric department of Memorial Hospital. Along with her husband, Harry, and two daughters, Agnes really enjoyed traveling to educational sites throughout the country. Agnes was very well-read and up to date on all current events. She loved reading non-fiction, crossword puzzles, polka music, playing Bingo, and rooting for Penn State and the Steelers. She also played the piano, was a great cook, and made delicious cakes and pies. Agnes loved her family dearly and enjoyed talking to everyone. She never lacked for conversation and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, had a deep faith in God, and sought strength and guidance through praying the Rosary.

A public Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020 at St. Michael Catholic Church, the Reverend Monsignor David Lockard, Celebrant.

Committal, Forest Lawn Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Christine Weaver, the staff of Forest Hills Personal Care Home, and the ER personnel and Wing 3 nurses and staff of CSS Medical Center at Windber for their care and kindness.
